Why do teachers have to give book reports I hate them so much! My teacher gave me the most horrible one ever its easier but to tell you the truth it would be easier just to do a summary of the book!

I agree with Wondergirl in the sense that by knowing your grade and the book, which you find horrible/tough/boring/hateful/terrible, can one suggest the REMEDY, if we use the proper word.

But, I would like to add that books are really charming, and once you fall in love with books, there is no looking back, and you will forget everything in the world and will find yourself fully absorbed in book-world, becoming more awakened, enlightened, entertained and blessed.

The real charm of the book lies in how it is written, rather than what's there in the book, as far as I believe, and the summary will only tell you what the subject matter is and that too in CRUX, but once you begin reading the book, it will open a new world before you, a world of imagination, a world of words, a words of sentence structures, a world of writer's thought process and writing prowess.

Just take a book, and you will feel it. For starters, like you, let me suggest the Lewis Carrol's ALICE IN WONDERLAND. If I tell you the summary, you will read/listen and say, okay, but if I make you read the book, you will find a really NEW FANTASTIC WORLD, full of charm, spells, magic, laughter, plight, imagination, action, inaction, novelty and what not?

Height of imagination and depth of thought! Just read it, feel it and express. I hope this is going to change your world, and all those who go through this post, not because I write it, but because I write about the power of the books and the words, about which any word, for me at least, is a gospel.

I'm in 8th grade and I read The Royal Treatment By Lindsey Leavitt the book report is a character analysis on Meredith it has to be two pages and its due tomorrow! So please help the out line he gave us is probably the most confusing thing ever even all my friends are confused! And I would like to say I do like to read. And I'm a pretty smart girl but I have know clue how to do this nether do my friends but they are doing there own book reports so you don't have to help them or anything! Please help! And I do agree with you kahani Punjab! And thanks for the help both of you guys you guys are so nice to help me!

Are you supposed to answer certain questions in your book report? My kids always got a paper from the teacher listing things to put in the report, like main characters, setting, is there a mystery, etc. What does the teacher want in the analysis?

Nice to find you here again after a longish while. Even as you are in 8th standard yet, you need to learn the power and need of proper punctuation, which helps the reader to get better view/clue of what you read. Still, as a minor, you are better than many!

About character analysis, I do not think your teacher wants you to write a big thesis! Is not it? She might be willing you to write a paragraph, or something. So, I suggest you to do READ that portion of the book, where that character occurs, and if about many/some characters, read about all, where they are/interfere, and give your, yes - your personal view, I mean the impression you got. This can help you out. Write the main features of the characters, their good/bad points, what they do, their introduction and such stuff. I think you got the point.

I use to love book reports it was really one only things I was good at in school. Anyway I always would include my opinion of the book & what some of the things in it meant to me at the end that way the book reports was not so repetitive like your doing a summary.
