    Water heater problems pilot light?
I have a 2 year old sears water heater and there seems to be a lot of flaking going on from somewhere inside and this causes the flame to go out. If I clean it out the water heater works fine for about 3 mo. And starts all over again. What causes this to flake?
    Thanks!

Flaking inside the exhaust tube or inside the combustion chamber? Propane or NG? This can be caused by 2 things; poor gas/air mix or outside air being drawn down the exhaust. The later can be caused by a too tight home that uses bathroom exhausr fans or furnace with no outside air intake
