I have a craftsman 17hp tractor product number 917.270712 with a Briggs and Stratton Engine model number 311707-132E1. When the dip stick indicates to add oil and I fill it to the full mark the engine begins to smoke. When I remove some of the oil the engine runs fine. My concern is that running the engine with the oil low could damage the engine. Do you have any suggestions?
