    Lying about cutting
I have a 14y/o stepdaughter (lives with us) who is lying about having an eating disorder and cutting. She eats healthy everyday, does not throw up & doesn't have a scratch on her. She was hospitalized for this because they thought she was going to kill herself. She thought it was a joke, told all of her friends and now her friends want nothing to do with her and her drama. I have told her not to blab her business because other teens could be cruel, she didn't listen. Her mother took her to therapy, the kid said she didn't want to go back so now her mother says she don't have to.Her mother thinks that if she prays enough it will just go away, her father is waiting for her to mess up & get put back in the hospital. In the mix of all this is 4 other kids that see this going on, the older 2 don't want to be around her and I really don't want her around the younger kids unsupervised. As a stepparent, my hands are tied. Any suggestions?

I'll be glad to help however I can, but I'm confused. If she doesn't throw up or have any cuts, how do you know she has an eating disorder and is cutting?

What's your relationship like with her?

That's the biggest part of this issue, she lies about doing it. She does not have an eating disorder or cut, she just lies about it. She idolizes Demi Lovato and when she heard about her going into treatment for that then all of a sudden she said she does it too. I think my relationship is pretty good with her. Of course it could be better but its OK. We don't fight or argue. We hang out a lot. I treat her and love her like she's my own. I don't know how to make this stop. My biggest fear is that she will start to hurt herself f1r attention.

My 14 y/o daughter is doing this very same thing. I have taken her to the crisis center to have her evaluated because I wanted to know this is serious. All was calm for a little while and now.. she told my sister in law, I checked for cuts on my daughter and not a single one. What would cause her to make this stuff up? She has a great life, a little stressful because of high school. But nothing that is out of the normal for everyone else..
