I have been rebuilding my basement with my father it has all been completed except for the bathroom. The walls are framed and the plumbing has been roughed in. I just don't know what to do next. My Dad is super busy right now and whenever I ask what I can do his answer is I will get over there soon... That was almost a year ago and I have had enough and plan on finishing it myself. Can someone please tell me what I need to do next?

OK! You've roughed in the drainage and the water, (you have run and tested the water haven't you? Everything's stubbed out and the drywall installed and painted? If that's all done and the floor patched you should be ready to trim out your bathroom group. You will need to purchase the fixtures and shower base and enclosure. You're now ready to trim out and complete your project. Good luck, Tom

I realized what I had done AFTER I had done it (ooops)!

As for the bathroom... I haven't gotten that far at all. The pipes are all where they need to be and I do believe that they have been tested ( I will double check that) The floor has been broken open so that the pipe to the toilet could be put in. The floor was never filled in (guess that I have to do that first)... do I have to test that pipe and if so how... OMG maybe I should wait another year for my dad to finish it.

There is no drywall put up yet BUT the wiring and outlet boxes are in place.

I have all the fixtures plus the toilet and sink.

Can you post some pictures of the rough plumbing with explanations of what fixtures will go where. If the rough in was done correctly, we should be able to help you get going on your project. No need to wait another year, lol.

In my area plumbing is done in three phases.
1. Rough in ( where we install the drainage and any water pipes that go under the slab. Once tested the floor can be patched.)
2. Tub set, stack out and water pipe where we Run the vents out the roof,set the bathtub or install a shower base and enclosure, Once the water and drainage's stubbed out and electric in the drywall can go in. At the same time we drill holes in the shower enclosure and install the shower valve and head. Then the painters come in.
3. Trim out. We set the toilet, install the lavatory in the vanity the cabinet guys left us. Connect everything up and test our work.
You're not out of your rough in yet.
Let's you and I get serious for a minute. Do you have the necessary skills and tools to do this project? Sounds like you may be a little over your head.
I know you want to save old Dad $ but this could turn into a multi year project and if old Dad's anywhere as old as I am he may never get to use his basement john.
My suggestion: Call in a plumber to complete the job while you do the labor and "scutt" work to save on money. The job will be finished in a week or two and Dad will be a happy camper in his shiny new bathroom. Plus we will always be as close as a click if you need us. Good luck, Tom
