My daughter ran away with this guy at 17 left me and her family didn't dropped out of high school let him use her car and money while he has been employed total 5 months one yr and 11 month another yr. Been through numerous jobs quit for some excuse or another, wrecked the car her sister gave her, didn't even have a reason he totaled it on dirt road while running off his oil field job. My daughter got pregnant and I tried to be nice, but he kept not supporting them, then she almost died of epitopic/ knowing they needed to use contraceptives he refused and she had the epitopic. During hospital he reluctantly kept baby and went out drinking w his cousin. She comes home and they were in middle of move he doesn't even have a bed for her. He is abusive mentally tells her that they never have any more babies blames her. After 4 yrs I finally gave up, and said I'm out of it and don't want a relationship w him. I still want a relationsip w my grandson and daughter, but her and looser husband who was on probation felony running from cops. They get caught shoplifting at walmart w baby! I was furious! But then said OK stay here w us there are jobs just have to get jobs... well lazy them... were try bum more money from me and got mean with my girlfriend. My daughter chose to stay w him they bum off his grandma and may get lucky for gov housing... please another job by the way they lie every breath to me. I'm sick sick sick of it... I want to file for grandparents rights please help me...

Okay you really should sit down with your daughter and have a talk with her. Tell her about how much it hurts to see them like that. If she was in the hospital and he was out drinking you should file a complaint it would get him either sent away to jail or sent to a place to get counsaling. Her actions are only made by his precence but if she nows how much its effecting her and the ones she loves she might change her mind.

Who would take the complaint that the OP (the mother in law) would make that would result in the son-in-law going to jail?

I was in a relationship quite similar a while back. It was really hard seeing that I deserved better, and the more my parents and family would cut me out of their lives, the closer it pushed me to my ex. He used that as ammo, saying things like "your family doesn't love you, but I do". It's a control thing and I had lost all of it. Luckily for me, it was getting pregnant that saved me. I realized it wasn't just my life I was ruining it was a new baby's too. Sadly there isn't much you can say to someone in a place like this. Cutting him off entirely is step one, but maintaining a relationship with your daughter and grandson is going to be the hardest part.

Many people told my family to cut me off, tell me I was out of the will, they had nothing to do with me, erc... Like I said, that only pushed me closer to him. It was my decision and thoughts that made me want out. Being in an abusive relationship is like being hooked on drugs. My heart goes out to you, and I only wish I could offer more words to you.
