How do I start the pilot light on my 1950 AFCO furnace ?
I have an AFCO furnace from the 1950's. The model number is S 100 MA. My pilot light is out and see two valves. Neither say "on, off, pilot". Any advice out there on how to light it?

Somewhere there has to be a control valve. Being that old the markings may have worn off but there should still be a detent or some stop. Look for a "P". The other alternative would be to move the knobs until one position allows you to press the knob down. That should be the pilot. Push it down and listen for a hissing or possible smell some gas. When you figure it out, mark the valve.

1950's!? Just kidding. Being that old I am going out on a limb and assuming this is a gravity type furnace... if so there is what they call a BASO switch that may need reset... it is a squarish type box roughly 3"x4" with a reddish button on it. A picture or model number would be of great help.
