I'm taking suboxone and it is making me retain water what can I do.
SUBOXONE (buprenorphine and naloxone). While it was not reported during clinical trials "The most frequently reported post-marketing adverse event...was peripheral edema." So water retention isn't uncommon although this side effect didn't show up until after the drug was in commercial use.
As a result older versions of physician's practice guidelines and patient information sheets will not note edema as a side effect.
You should report this to the prescribing physician*. The drug is restricted in medical practice but those certified should be able to remedy your complaint. Wish I could be of more help.
*This drug can be prescribed only by physicians who meet certain qualifying requirements under the provisions of Drug Addiction Treatment Act (DATA), 21 U.S.C. 823(g).
