Problem with tub and shower combination
I have a problem with a tub and shower combination. I can't tell for sure but I think it is a Price Pfister part; at least that is what is engraved on the bath tub lever. It uses a sleeve kit, gasket, cartridge and cam. The problem is that it does not shut off completely but always has a stream of water somewhat smaller than a pencil. I bought a Briggs decorative tub and shower single control kit and installed it but the leak does not quit.

    Any suggestions?

This should be of some help. Pfister - Faucet repair Can say it's a great idea to mix brands when Price parts are available. If a new cartridge doesn't work then the mixing body sleeve might be scored.

Are you saying you replaced the old Price-Pfister valve with a new Briggs valve and it still leaks from the same place?

Yes, that is what I did. The house was built in 1980, and plumbing is original, as far as I know.

    Thanks for responding.

When you installed the new valve did you turn the water on for a minute to flush out the supplies? Sounds like you have some trash on the pipe walls that
Blocked the old valve from closing and now you have the same problem.
Try shutting the water off, opening up the valve and removing the cartridge. Check the cartridge for trash and turn the water back on to flush everything out. Reassemble and test. Let me know if it works. Good luck. Tom
