Can anyone tell me if there are any tricks to replacing the water pipe that runs through the door of my freezer, it has broken and I have tried yo pull a new pipe on the old one but they came apart and I can't get the new one to get all the what to the ice and water dispencer because of the foaqm in the door

First take note of how the door is constructed. The outer surface and the edges are made of thin sheet metal. The inner surface is made of thin formed fiberglass or plastic material. Both by themselves are quite flexible. When put together thy make a rigid, light weight box. The inner surface or liner is what makes the outer surface or shell rigid. The door must be perfectly flat when measured diagonally from corner to corner.

Lift the door seal around the door and you will see the screws holding the inner liner to the outer shell.

Remove the door and lay on a flat surface. Use a drop cloth or blanket to prevent scratching. Remove everything on the outside that would prevent the door from laying flat. If there is anything on the door that would prevent it from laying flat which cannot be removed, cut strips of 1/2 or 3/4" plywood and put under the edges of the door. It is the perimeter that must be flat.

Remove the screws holding the inner liner in place. Remove the inner liner. Make repairs to water line. Keep in mind that the water line must be toward the outer surface and covered with insulation to prevent freezing.

Reinstall the inner liner. Install all the screws but do not tighten. Check to insure that door is laying flat. Tighten the screws in opposite corners. The tighten remaining screws around the perimeter. Reinstall door, check to insure that it seals properly when closed..

The post above is good advice. That model has had a class action suit due to them not sealing the edges of the cover on the door with silicone. When you put it back together make sure to seal it around the edges with silicone caulk, GE Silicone, not the cheap stuff. Air gets in and freezes and causes all kinds of problems. DrTom4444
