I am 25 years old, when I was 18 I was arrested in the state of Florida for possession of marijuana. I completed a course and the charges were dismissed. My question is can I still become a Nurse? I was recently honorably discharged from the military. Will that help me or if I seal the case will that help my chances at all?

You were still inducted into the military after the marijuana incident, yes. The military would not have accepted you if any misdemeanors had shown up on your record. So I guess you can assume you are clear to go for nursing is my thought on this, Recan. Good luck.

I would like to assume that. However, I just want to be more then just OK with the decision of becoming a nurse.

Becoming a nurse is a life altering decision, and it is entirely yours. You didn't say in your original post that you had doubts about becoming one.

No I do not have any doubts what so ever. BUT I would rather not spend years of my life trying to help others when at the end of it all I wouldn't be able to help anyone at all.

First you can't have a "conviction" it was done by what you said, under a first offender program. So you can't seal it, since there is nothing to seal, You should be able to be a nurse, although the charges may hurt getting jobs in some of the better places

Pay for a background check then and see if anything turns up on it, if not, then you are in the clear. But I don't understand your concern if you were in the military after the marijuana incident, then nothing turned up on a background check that they did. So you were in the clear then, you will be now. Unless of course something happened after you left the military that you are worried about.
