I have a large collection of Spode dinnerware. There are 2 or 3 patterns, all similar and complementary designs. Quality varies. How can I sell these--I"m concerned about shipping, but I'd also like to get full value for them. I've started to photograph them, but it's a big project. I will never use them and I don't have children. They were my grandmother's, so I don't want to let them go too easily.

What are the patterns?

But to see what they sell for as a private seller, look on eBay.
None are big sellers at the moment, but that's partly because buyers probably will be looking right at the beginning of Nov or slightly sooner (for the holidays).
Shipping is indeed a huge part of selling china. I just packaged one serving bowl in a huge box of peanuts.
I wouldn't even want to deal with entire sets.
You might be better off putting them in a consignment shop, putting an ad in a local paper, or taking the time to list them one at a time on eBay. That isn't a bad idea, especially for the occasional pieces. If you have the time, it's the best way to make a profit, and you learn how to sell online. Auction listings are free, so if they don't sell, you are only spending time. If they sell, you pay a fee.

Thank you for those options. I do like the idea of selling off the bigger pieces first. Easy to take pictures of, easier to list, not too hard to ship and a good way to whittle down the collection.
