I have to write a descriptive essay on Staten Island. I wrote something already but I need more.Give me some ideas in couple sentences please.

Start with the immgrants that came ,and what they had to go through to enter this country.

Do you know the history of Staten Island and that it was a farming community? "Historically, the central and southern sections of the island were dominated by dairy and poultry farms, almost all of which disappeared in the 20th century." Include information about that and how it developed into what it is today.

It's small and crowded and the only way on and off is by ferry (or private boat) so people tend to know each other and band together. I think it's still mostly Italian American, blue collar, and a repuation for mafioso. I think a high proportion of their police and fire workers were lost in 911.
