My mother in law had an annuity that was to be split between her three boys. My husband died 1yr. Before her. His brother's cashed in the annuity after funeral expenses were paid out of it.
We all live in Louisiana. The brothers kept the rest of the annuity. Should I have been entitled to my husbands part?

Depends on the terms of the annuity, but if the beneficiaries were the 3 sons, then probably not.
