My one year old dog had intestinal surgery two days ago and still has absolutely no appetite, but is drinking well. The vet hears no movement in the abdomen and is very concerned. Is this normal?

If the vet hears no movement and is very concerned but has done nothing I would be going to another vet.
You can try feeding some very bland food that the dog likes such as boiled chicken breast, alternatively you can also get appetitie stimulants from your vet or even some pet stores stock them. The one I buy is a paste that you rub onto the dogs gums, it is a very hit or miss product but it is certainly worth a try if you must get him eating.
