I had unprotected sex eleven days ago. I am on the birth control implanon. However I do take a medication that lowers the effectiveness of it. I should have had a period last weekend but didn't. I'm starting to have early signs of pregnancy. I am fifteen years old. Please help me.. I really need an answer. I also heard that implanon can cause a false negative on a home pregnancy test.

Firstly what medication were you taking that makes you believe that it could have affected your implanon contracpetion?

The implant is not affected by common antibiotics, diarrhoea or vomiting.

If you think that you might be pregnant then do a pregnancy test or speak to your doctor or nurse as soon as possible. Using the implant will not affect a pregnancy test. If you do get pregnant while you are using the implant there is no evidence that it will harm the baby. The implant should be removed if you want to continue with the pregnancy.

When you do the pregnancy test make sure you use the first urine of the day - which will be the most concentrated so if the pregnancy hormone is in your urine, the test will pick it up. Make sure you follow the instructions on the test correctly. If you still think you could be pregnant after doing a test which is negative, wait a week and do another one. If you are still worried after this, see your Doctor.

You can do a test the first day of a missed period or 21 days after you last had unprotected sex.
