Well, they say they come in three's... Thanks for all the advice on the Water Heater!

My Garbage Disposal is leaking out the bottom of the unit. Leaks when faucet is on and when dishwasher is on. GD runs fine though. It is an Insinkerator Model 5-75. The leak is heavy drips (not gushing water). No back up into the sink.

Clean the GD get a flashlight plug the sink drain fill the sink ask some one to remove the plug that the water drains now check the GD and see where is the leak coming from when you locate the source the fix is easy, Thanks.

Make sure the side arm is tight against the disposer. If it is, and you can see water coming through the bottom, you most likely have a bad bottom seal in the disposal. It seals the grinder tub and the motor. Unfortunately, a replacement is the only answer.

As ma0641 says if you are sure the leak is coming out through the bottom of disposal and you are sure it is not coming from higher up, a new disposal is the only answer. It sounds like you have a insinkerator badger 5. HD has them for about $100 and it is a easy change if you replace it with the same disposal.

I agree completely with Puff. If the unit's dripping from the bottom and not running down the sides from the drain then you have a inertial leak that's getting in the motor and that's not good.
If possible replace with the same model. That way the drain is already installed and all you have to do is snap the unit in place and hook up the drain. Good luck, Tom

I agree with all of the above but let him/she inspect where the leak is coming from if it is coming from the bottom yes it definitely needs the GD to be replaced but we are assuming it is leaking from the bottom and we are not sure until it is inspected as I suggested, Thanks.

Ok, So now I am off to Home Depot. It is definantly leaking only from the bottom. So if I get any Insinkerator Brand - it should just snap in. The Badger 5 does not have a stainless tank. Would have to upgrade . Really like the GE models with Sound insallation - would this be hard to convert? What about accessories. Seems I need to buy new Dishwasher Connector Cords and a power cord (seems like that should be included).
Going to have to hire a handy-man for this.

If you like another GD then go for it.
I just suggested the same model so you wouldn't have to remove tYou may use the oldn he old drain and install a new one.
You may use the old dishwasher connection and line cord. Just remember that there's a "knock out plug" That MUST be remover in the GD before you connect the DW. Good luck, Tom

Buy ISE - Evolution Series. Every GD over $120.00 is good one with s.s. interior. Also I suggest you go with 3/4 HP.

Stick with ISE. If you do, the installation will easier. Don't buy any accessories. You can reuse them from the old unit. Let us know how it went. Milo

Almost all of the newer units use the same type of mount ring and it is an easy swap out. If your Dishwasher is connected to the disposal, read what speedball noted about the plug. Biggest problem with some of the sound blanket units is their diameter and you may have some difficulty getting it to "squeeze in". I did, however, just replace a 20 yr old GE with an ISE unit and the GE sound blanket snapped over the ISE unit with very minimal trimming.
