My daughter is nearly 6 months her mum has stopped me and her my parents seeing her.
My daughter is nearly 6 months. Her mum and I have split up she now refuses me access to her. I would like to have unsupervised access to her every weekend as I work mon-fri 12 hour shifts. Too be able to provide for her.
Her mum is being awkward saying as I live 20 miles down the road its too far for her too travel, it hadn't been a problem when she was my partner.

Josh, is this a legal separation or just a amicable split? The only way you can get visitation is through the courts (you are not divorced right). How old is your daughter?

You need to file in court and get formal visitation. That way she can not interfere with your visitation times.

Overnights for a 6 month old are unlikely. If the mother is still breastfeeding any significant visitation away from the mother will be difficult to get a court to approve.

But you SHOULD go to court now and establish reasonable visitation as the child gets older. You can start with an hour or two now and build up to overnights in another year or so.
