    Getting bonded?
What does getting bonded cover? I am thinking of being a Santa Claus for the Christmas season and I am wondering about background checks and separate jobs. Does bonding cover that or, if not what kind of safety security should I have to provide prospective clients?

    Hello P:

Being bonded only protects your employers from you ripping them off. It does NOT hide your criminal record from them, or otherwise ameliorate it.. If I was hiring a Santa Clause, and found out he had a record, being bonded wouldn't make me feel any better about him.

I don't have a record. My querry... I am a retired teacher and in the recent past more and more background checks have been required by educators and institutions that work with children. My concern is that future clients can rest at ease that I am not a criminal and that they can feel safe hiring me. Without each client having to do an individual background check.

The bonding has nothing to do with the employer clearing your background, it deals with protecting the employer if you happen to steal all that Santa money they may be putting in a pot or something

Most Santa's will still have to do a criminal background search including any crimes involving children or sexual crimes.
