Hello all. We recently purchased a great dane puppy that we believe maybe deaf. I have been on line to see what we can do and have done all the test, like hitting 2 pots together behind her, snapping, calling her, rang bells behind her also and yet she does not seem to move away or even look to where the noise is coming from. I was wondering if anyone with a great dane puppy can tell me, their behavior at 7/8 weeks. Did they response to noise? Any help with this would be wonderful. Thanks.

Yes, as you are seeing, a puppy that fails to respond to out of sight noise, may be deaf. You should be in for shots before long, have the vet confirm it. Dogs cope well with problems. I know people with blind dogs. You can train a dog to respond to hand signals. Since I rely heavily on verbal praise, I would have trouble reorienting myself to train a deaf dog.
