I have two ghost pepper plants that I'd like to keep alive indoors over the winter. Attached is a picture so you can see their size. They are in 5 gallon buckets.

My concern is making sure they get enough light to remain healthy, and also that I do everything possible to keep them producing while indoors, if possible. They have at least 80-90 buds and blooms on them right now, a few of which are in fruit stage, most are not though. I'd hate to lose them! I only have 1 good south-facing window, and winter here is quite gloomy usually, so I think I will need to supplement with grow lights.

How much light will I need, and what types of bulbs are grow bulbs?

Will the plant continue to produce fruits indoors?

How close to the plant should I put the light?

Anything else I should know?

You may not be able to keep them producing over the winter and some require a resting period. Peppers are warm weather plants and require a certain soil temp. I would get a 4 ft. fluorescent shop fixture and install 2X 4ft. Gro tubes, 40 watts each or there abouts. Keep them about 1 ft above the plants. Even if it doesn't work for pepper production, you can use the fixture for seedlings in the spring. Good luck
