Caught shoplifting in Canada, my first offense, what happens next?
I was caught in a Zellers shoplifting in the amount of CAD $20. The store gave me a letter not to shop their stores for one year. They will also send a financial losses letter which they will use to collect payment from me in the mail.
Luckily, the police officer was kind, and he checked my records and my records were clean. He said since it was my first offense, he was only giving me the warning as I was employed in the Canadian organization and he let me go free.
One more thing is I am a Work permit holder in Canada so don't have any Canadian ID's except health card which they used to record my health card number.
They took only my name, address, DOB and health card number. I wasn't charged by the police officer.
Can anything else happen to me? Please help.
