Can dogs have cataflam

This is people medicine and you would need an RX for this. What has your vet prescribed for your pet's arthritis condition?

He has been prescribed painkillers but I find they do nothing for him. He is a two year old Rott and has a swelling in his back leg and x-rays reveal nothing wrong with his bones. He is at the point now where he is not eating, I had to force him to drink water, and has lost a lot of weight! I will take him back to the vet if he survives tonight but I am at the point to desperately try anything.

What testing has your vet done other than X-ray, any blood or biopsies?
Swellings don't necessarily have to to be bone related. If whatever is going on is causing him to not want to eat or drink it may be time for a second opinion. I'm not implying anything about your Vet, only that sometimes two heads are better than one.

Two heads, yes, or at least one good one... Swollen back legs does not make me think of arthritis... maybe two broken femurs, but that's easily ruled out. Then I want to eliminate a circulatory problem, maybe heart problems. Then basic blood tests and follow up from there on what shows in the testing until an answer 'pops up'.

May sound like too much delay in getting treatment started, but first rule of starting a treatment is... identify the problem, which apparently hasn't been done.
