    Bleach Issure
I agree wholeheartedly with ballengerb1. I have been a heavy bleach user for 45 years and the two septic systems we've had did just fine. Speedball had many good pointers many of which I have practiced over the years too EXCEPT the 2-3 year clean out. Um... we sold our last home last year after living in it for 19 years. Regulations required the tank be visually inspected (fortunately knew where to tell the fellows to dig) as well as pumped at the time of sale (part of the inspection requirement). Passed with flying colors even though we had never had it pumped before. Guess ignorance can be bliss.

The thread may have been dead speedball, but I was curious about the bleach issue. I had had a recent conversation about the bleach issue with a friend about the hazards of using any bleach if you have a septic system and decided to research the subject today.

So... I am not sure what are you saying in your reply. Is the information in the thread bad because of a Dead Thread? Should I not comment? Not sure why the chastising?

If your previous information is bad information because of new and updated information (and since you are an expert plumber) please update the information. As a complete plumbing novice, I would like to know since my new home also has a septic system.

Sorry if I confused you. Just because a thread'
's dead doesn't mean it's bad. It's all very well to check on past answers but we try not to clutter up our new traffic with old threads, The correct procedure would have been to check on the old thread and if you have a question or comment to start a new thread. Which I am now giving you.
We attempt to keep dead threads out of our current traffic. You've done nothing wrong. Simply explaining how things are done. Anything more you care to add you have a current thread to do it in. Cheers, Tom
