My dryer heats very good but it always turns off before the clothes are dry.
My dryer heats very good but it always turns off before the clothes are dry. It has a sensor that tell the dryer they are dry when in fact they are not. I will have to turn my dryer on about 6 times when I'm trying to dry towels. The dryer heat's well just won't stay on. It is a whirlpool senseon dryer. Can I by pass the sensor or just take it out all together and the dry still work?

There is a settlement dealing with that problem. I copied a post from somewhere else on this site which states: Kenmore Elite Dryer http://www.evenheatsettlement.com/faq.htm#3

I hope you are covered by the Evenheat Settlement: Evenheat Settlement
"The serial numbers for Evenheat dryers manufactured in 2001 begin with the letters “ML”; the serial numbers for Evenheat dryers manufactured in 2002 begin with the letters “MM”; and the serial numbers for Evenheat dryers manufactured in 2003 begin with “MP.” For 2001 models, the serial number range included in the Settlement Class is ML10 through ML52. (The two-digit numbers following the first two letters represent the calendar week of the year during which the machine was manufactured.) For 2002 models, all serial numbers beginning with “MM” are included in the Settlement Class. For 2003 models, the serial number range included in the Settlement Class is MP01 through MP46. If your Evenheat dryer's serial number does not begin with ML, MM, or MP, you are not a member of the Settlement Class. To locate the serial and model numbers, open the door to your dryer and look for the label immediately above the opening to the dryer's cavity."
I hope this helps. [email protected]

These driers will do that when the lint builds up like concrete on the inside of the air ducts. You need to totally tear it down and scrape out and wash all of the parts except the motor, which you vacuum out. You can go to YouTube to see videos on how to take it apart, but do a very good job or it will fail again quickly. You may need to replace a blown thermal fuse which is near the elements. Check the different safeties to find the one that is bad; they are wired in series. I would get a new belt and change it while you have it apart and get some white lithium grease and grease any bearings you find. You need to clean out a drier every two years, at least, according to the manual. Another possibility is a bad door switch, but it's rare for them to fail. What you have to do is tear it apart and check all safeties and you will find the problem fairly easily with a good ohm meter. Check everything out before you buy any parts and never change a part without checking with an ohm meter to see if the part on the drier is bad. Good Luck. DrTom4444
