Above the hip is too vague, and there's too many things it could be even if you pinpoint it and describe it better, along with your age, gender, and general health. Pinched nerve to appendicitis to ovarian cyst and a hundred other.
To Joypulv's good answer I'll also add Kidney Stone and possibly Gallbladder blockage.
