    Block downloads from internet in xp
    Hai

    I have 60 systems in my office.they are all in workgroup.all the systems have internet.all operating systems are xp.some employees are misusing the internet and downloading .exe files,movies,songs etc. I want to block downloads option in xp.I use ie7,Google chrome.I want a tool to stop these download options.please help me out to solve this problem.

    How about setting up a gateway with that many machines... its a single point that can be configured to block what you want. All internet access with go through it. Common with larger businesses who wish to control acess to places like P2P sites, etc.

    How is your network configured? Via a Domain server? Do you know how to work with Smart Directory and Policies that as a superadmin will override anything that can be configured on a local machine?

    You can configure the IE security settings to not allow downloads then lock the security settings in group policy.

    Tools ("View" in earlier versions of IE) > Internet Options > Security (tab) > click the "Custom Level" button
