    Swimming on your period?
I need help so so so so so so so badly this is a really arkward situation but I have just started my period I am a 13 year old girl in need, I am in a elete swim team and if I miss out on too many lessons it could effect my training badly and I'm not prepared to let a stupid period get between me and my swimming, so I am terified of using a tampon for obvious reasons what can I use IN THE UK that will hide it under a swimming costume
hope some one can help =-)

They also make these cup like things. Although personally, those kind of freak me out a little.

What exactly is it that freaks you out about tampons? Personally, I wasn't freaked out by tampons. Don't get me wrong, it took me forever to finally learn to use one. But it was just because it was a new, awkward experience, I wasn't afraid of them or anything. There are a lot of frightening rumors about tampons out there though that I imagine could lead to your discomfort with them. If that's the case, maybe talking about your concerns can help you overcome them.

Well I just don`t like the thought of putting anything up there and people say if you put them up wrong they can poison you or something?

Tampons can "poison" you (toxic shock syndrome) only if you leave one in there for days and don't change it. There's a way to insert one (angle toward your tailbone), but once you figure that out, Bob's your uncle. There are various thicknesses to choose from. You'll like them so much, you'll wonder why you never used them before.

Check at your pharmacy (chemist) shop or even online for waterproof panties. Then you could wear a normal pad (although this all could be too bulky).

Just Google "waterproof panties" (without the quote marks). Here's one site to show you what I mean:

Waterproof, Leakproof, Stain Resistant, Panties, Panty , Underwear- Bikini, VvSkiVvys - Pennsylvania

Like I said, that was just to show you what I mean. Until now, I didn't know you live in the UK, thus I suggested that you Google. Add "UK" to the keywords. Certainly there's an online company or two over there that sells something similar.

Have you actually tried the water proof panties wondergirl? I only ask because I'd never even heard of them before this thread and I'm curious about them now. I glanced through the site and get that they are supposed to prevent leaks. But I didn't see anything about if they become fully saturated in water like what I imagine would happen in the pool. Did I miss it? Any thoughts or experiences on it?

I've never bought them, was reading the testimonials, so it sounded like they would do the trick. If they are like Depends, no, they won't work. The OP needs to use something like the plastic panties for babies with cloth diapers.

My point was that such things exist online
