    SSI cannot be garnished for child support. SSDI can. This is a good link.

    If the baby's father gets SSD, then the child can be added to receive his own monthly check off the father's benefits. Contact the local Social Security office near you to see how you can have the child qualify for this if the father has been Court Ordered as being the father or the father is on the birth certificate.
