Can an LVL beam be used to support a porch if beam is protected from weather?
Do you recommend using an LVL beam covered to protect from moisture in
New England to support an outdoor porch?

The beam is already in and my husband is worried that LVL beams are intended for indoor use only.
    Please help!

They are not intended to be exposed to the weather so it must be wrapped. I mean completely wrapped on all 6 surfaces before joists are laid.

I'd be worried too, they will deteriorate with cold wet winters. They should have used a Pressure Treated beam.

Some LVLs are rated for outdoor use. I might check with whoever put it in if you don't know for sure.
