A friend of mind is on probation and was recently arrested because the individual that he was living with at the time made a false statement to a health professional stating she was assaulted. When the incident occurred the police were called by the female and they did not arrest him because it was obvious that she was not telling the truth and he was the one with the busted lip and scratches all over his body. The DA has now picked up this case because the health professional forward her lies to I am assuming the Sheriff's department. They issued a warrant for his arrest. Will this cost him prison time? Will he have to go to trial? What are the next steps?

He's going to go to trial for assault if he was charged and arrested for it... and that might get him jail time on that alone... it also violates his probation... so depending on what the terms of probation were, that would dictate what happens.

The court will decide who was telling the truth or not based on the evidence, not just one persons word.
