I lived with a roommate who ordered me and my boyfriend around like he owned us expecting us to clean the house pay for his personal bills as well as household materials and utilities as well as the rent. When I moved in the agreement was half of everything within 6 weeks of living here our roommate had lost his job and I carried all the bills, When he received his unemployment for a month and then lost it all he covered was the rent. I have paid for his cigarettes his gas for his vehicle. I have bought him a stove as well as covered all utilities with everything I covered I figured he could at least cover the 418.00 rent. I explained I gave our roommate the courtesy he requested with my friends and asked for the same in return he flat out told me it was his house and if I did not like it I could move. So I did now I am receiving threatening emails telling me I have to fix his floor which is falling in all through the house as well s pay his bills I feel I did enough for this person. I would like to know what FLORIDA Law States regarding these types of situations?

You pay half of the rent and half of the food or what ever the agreement was, you don't buy stoves, you don't fix floors and you stop paying all of his personal bills.

No, you are not liable for the floor. If anything the person who has is the owner of the house repairs the floors.

What kind of home is it that it's literally falling apart? And what kind of damage was done to the floor to weaken it so much? Water damage perhaps?

The house is an older Mobile home that has a lot of water damage there is mold in the walls. I moved out since there was no written only verbal agreement he is trying to charge me for my half of this months rent and he wants me to pay all of this months electric as well as replacing the flooring in my old room that is completely falling apart I am wondering if he can charge me for this

Floors in mobile homes don't get in that condition overnight but takes months sometimes years to get to that point. There is no way you could have caused this problem unless you had a waterbed that sprung a huge leak. The floor is made of pressboard and swells when it gets wet and when walked on gets weakened and when stepped on in this overly weakened condition causes holes in the floor.

And since this is a rental property the landlord is 100% responsible for the floor - not you and not even the tenant who rented it. Tell that ex roommate you refuse to pay unless he takes you to court and a judge orders you to pay. And as for the electric bill - pay only what you think you owe (prorate a recent bill and figure out how much per day and then multiply that amount by how many days you actually lived there during the billing period) and pay him that via check. You can pay him the prorated rent for the actual days you did live there. Quite frankly from the sounds of this place it should have been condemned and not rented out in such an uninhabitable condition. The local building dept would certainly condem the place had they inspected it. Change your phone number on your cell if he texts you or calls you (the ex roomie).
