How can I write an effective company profile for our company? It is of great help for us to have a company profile whenever we have a meeting with our client. But the problem is, I don't know where to start and do we have to have a portfolio for our company?

A company profile can include many separate parts and are designed not only for external purposes but also for internal messaging, management and training purposes.

For example, an "About Us" on a website could contain the history of the company and a current status with future objectives.

You could then have a management page which reveals the background of your key people.

An important item is a Mission / Vision statement. This can set the tone for your entire organization as well as provide a look into the type of company you are trying to be every day.

Depending on the industry and markets you are entering, more information can be added, or the above examples tweaked. The bottom line is you need to do your own research to compile all of this information.

If it were me, since I am new, I would first research what I could online about the company as a reference going forward, and then I would ask for sit down interviews with key personnel to get their take on the company.

If there isn't already a Mission/Vision statement, I would suggest asking about one being created. I have been a part of building such a profile, specifically a M/V statement, and it can be a strong tool if used from the top down.

Are you anywhere near a public or university library?

A library should have a print book that may contain a CD that features templates for company profiles. The Dewey number would be in the 658s. If the classification system is LC, a reference librarian will show you where the business books are and this particular kind of book.
