What's the name of the this theory?
When I was enrolled in my Music Appreciation course last semester I specifically remember by prof. Speaking of a this theory. I don't remember who invented it or when it was thought of, but I really agree with it and would like to research it. The theory was that music could be popular yet not be of good quality. You could hear a song on the radio or whatnot very often, but a greater percentage of the population its marketed towards does not like it. Has any one else ever heard of this theory? Does any one know the name of it?

Could be a form of subliminal stimuli. But I would need more information.
