    What does this statement mean?
What does "the soul of a book can be separated from its body" mean?

It probably means that 'the body' of a books refers to its physical characteristics. For example, it has pages, a hard cover, a spine to hold the pages in place. The 'soul' probably refers to the writers intent or the literary means whereby the writer conveys the story line.

It can be interpreted that the learning of knowledge would long exist in your mind while the book physically vanished.
