Our electric hot water system (which is getting on in years) occasionally needs resetting which fixes it for a time, but now its just getting warm - any suggestions?
Our hot water system (18yrs old) occasionally needs resetting and it works fine, but now its just giving out warm water- is it time to say goodbye or can I fiddle it back to life?
Please say what kind it is. But 18 years is stretching it for any kind.
Hi All
18 years is certainly getting up there, but since replacement parts are real cheap, if you want to try and change out the thermostats and/or elements it isn't a hard job.
My guess is that the one of your elements is gone, but I'd change all parts because they really are cheap and easy to replace.
Care to discuss more, let us know, OK?
Mark
I second Marks answer. If the tank's OK and there are no leaks Then replacing the parts is the easiest and less costly way to go.'
I have a 30 gallon one element water heater that's built in to the kitchen counter that came with the house 56 years ago. Would you like instructions on how to rebuild your heater? Cheers, Tom
