Me and my fianc? Are wondering how we go about adopting our nephew. He is with us 85% of the time anyway. His father is in the picture but sells drugs, has been in and out of jail, has gun charges an all around bad guy. His mother has 2 other kids on top of him and needs help she is willing to sign over custody but the father isn't do we have a chance if so what do we do how do we do it I am new to this and like I said we are the ones taking care of him anyway we just don't get to claim him on taxes or put him on our insurance. We do all the work but they reap the benefits I really don't care about the money I just want him to be able to live with us legally.

If he has been charged and convicted of the crimes you are stating then you may be able to have his rights revoked if this is an ongoing thing. You will need to speak to a lawyer and find out how to make this happen in your state.
