    Stopped pumping
My pump stopped pumping the water out . My plumber removed the unit and the impeler will turn if you start it but once it stops it will not start again. Can I just replace this part or do I have to buy a whole new pump. I bought the unit in September of 2011 and it was installed by a liecense plumber.

    Hello Dbridegroom

Is this a sump pump pumping only ground water or is this a sewage ejector that pumps waste from an entire bathroom? Here, if it is just a sump pump you may be able to get repair parts from the manufacturer and repair the pump, but if it is a sewage ejector you can be pretty sure that getting someone to repair/replace parts will cost you more than a new pump as these pumps are super dirty and most people will NOT repair them.

For what it is worth, if the pump you have now has failed so quickly I would throw it away and purchase what all of us here think is the best pump on the market... the ZOELLER PUMP (or zoeller sewage ejector).

You can check into them here @ Zoeller Corporation

In most cases, this cast iron pump is a 20 year pump that almost never fails, so you should be pretty happy with it for years and years to come! If you purchase it online (click on link below) you can find it for about $130.00.

Amazon.com: Zoeller M53 Mighty-mate Submersible Sump Pump, 1/3 Hp: Home Improvement

    Good luck!

    Mark's right! Time to replace,
No matter what function your pump performs it sounds like the starting coils in the motor are shot. Time to replace. Good luck, Tom

When did you buy it? It could not have been 9/2011 since we are not there yet. If it has been within a year, then I would think there would be a warranty still in effect.

I'd check the warranty... should have a 1 year warranty as Jlisenbe mentioned!

Otherwise, replace the unit with a new zoeller 2" discharge sewage ejector pump and you won't have to worry about this happening again for a lonnnggg time!

    Good luck!
