It sounds very similar to the style of painting my grandmother did back in the early 70's. Her name was Margarita Yllescas and she did many landscapes of redwood forests and many seascapes of the California coastline. She had since changed her name and signs all her art KF Martell now, so if you have an Yllescas, it is a recent work.
Sorry... I meant that to say NOT a recent work. My apologies.
Thank you for this information. Would it be possible for me to send you a pic of this painting, for you and your grandmother to view?
Thanks,
Cindy

I am also looking for info on Margarita Yllescas (aka KF Martell?). Is she still alive? Any info please. I have a painting of a stormy sea scape signed Margarita Yllescas. Email [email protected] Thanks.
Born in Hidalgo Mexico, went to San Carlos Art School of the University of Mexico. Studied under Bennett Bradbury at Laguna Beach Art School. I have a painting done by her with a typed Bio.
I Too have a large painting that I purchased in the 70's at a San Mateo art show

She is still alive. I went to the Santa Barbara art show along the beach on Sundays a few months ago and we spoke with her briefly. Her paintings are beautiful. All signed as K.F. Martell now though.
I have a oil painting that is of flowers that was left to be tossed out by the family of a woman who passed away. I cleaned homes in Santa Maria CA at the time and saved the painting. Until now I have never been able to find out any information. I am thinking it must be by the same person.. It is signed yLLescas I believe and its in red paint on a light blue canvas.
