I have been asked by my adult daughter for my ex Social Security #. I asked her why? She said for college. Hm I don't think I'm obligated to give her that information?

    Hello Parent:

I don't think you are either, but why don't you delve a little deeper? Wouldn't you like to HELP her?

If she is writing them a check to pay for college, you do not have to supply it.

But if they are trying to get Federal Grants or Student Loans, then yes, your income and social security numbers are needed to apply.

I'm confused, they never asked me for my parents information at all when I applied for my grants and loans.

Did you complete a FAFSA application? I'm assuming your ex is her father. Why would you want to withhold the info? There has to be more to this!
