Our refurbished Maytag Neptune washer was so quiet spinning out when we first got it two years ago. Now It is so loud when spinning out, we cannot hear each other talk. What can I do? (This is the same reason we replaced our last washer!)
If it matters we do at least 15 loads a week... probably 20.

I have a Neptune washer also. I was surprised to see that you said it was quiet at the beginning. Mine has never been quiet! It is quite loud. When I had problems(needed the computer board replaced), my local friendly Maytag repairman told me it was normal. Do you have a service contract on it? Did you send in the warranty info on it when you bought it? Pull out the paperwork if you have it and call them. They are pretty good about answering questions. If you don't have any info, go to Maytag and search the site on Q&A page to see if they address the issue. If they don't call them. Most of those machines are covered parts and labor for the first five years you own it, although my guy told me that they are changing the rules now. Find out what you are covered for and who services the machines in your area.
In the meantime, while you are doing that, over the course of the next few days, someone here may know exactly what the problem is and answer your question. The problem is, it is hit or miss on when the true experts check the site and can find the time to answer questions.

When we first got it, the place where we got it immediately fixed the computer board and some wax thingie that I'd read online were both faulty in this model. I was grateful! We always thought it sounded like a spacecraft elevating during that final spin out! No warrantee or anything.. but we got it used at a great price :) They told us that we'd only get 1/4 life that anyone else gets so I am wondering how to proceed.

Hahahah. I know what you are saying. I watch TLC too.
By the way, my mother had hers for 30 years. The discussion my repairman and I had was that they don't make the machines the way they used to anymore. They make them to break down so that you will be forced to buy a new one. It is all about sales and if you have something that is that reliable, it will put them out of business.
I just purchased a 4 year old Neptune with one bad bearing. I was able to replace it with some trouble and time. What I learned is that the seal that keeps the bearings dry is a little bit troublesome, expensive, and difficult to get set correctly and therefore prone to wear out. Once the bearings start taking on water, the bearing in front goes out and at high speeds, you'll hear some real screaming from it. It's OK at the low speeds, right? If you opt to go for a new set of bearings, seriously consider a new shaft for $125, which utilizes a revised seal that will last for a long, long time. It's a solution that was a little slow in coming out from Maytag engineers.
I totally agree and came to that conclusion before even resorting to this site, I've had experiences with automobile bearings going bad and giving not so welcoming roaring noises. Bigger question is whether I should purchase a new shaft and bearings for this washer or just start looking for another , after all I only paid $300 for my washer and that was in 2005 from a scratch -n-dent store BUT she is still kicking and doing the loads as she was when she was purring like a kitten! Lol
