I was Driving and the truck turned off. It turns over but it won't start. When I turn the switch on to the first position the radio turns on but when I put the switch on the 2nd position none of the dash or warning lights or gauge or check engine lights turn on. I checked all the fuses and put a new ignition coil in and ignition module and nothing happened. Then I tried the scanner to see if it gave me any codes but it did not. Do you have any idea what I could try or what else is wrong.

Did you check the ignition switch yet?

Lol.. Not laughing at you, but at myself! I had just gotten a 2000 GMC Jimmy and was trying to become familiar with it. I had itfor two weeks and the same thing happened to me. I called a towing company & waited. The driver arrived and asked what happened and I told him. He tried to start it and turned and looked at me and said, "Did you run out of gas"?
For whatever reason- that had NEVER crossed my mind!

Two things; 1.) I hope you are able to figure it out and get it fixed.
2.) I hope you at least got a short burst of laughter from this- it helps decrease stress :-)

Replace the ignition switch, after disconnecting the negative battery cable.
