    Can abs light affect speedometer?
I have a 2001 Malibu and the abs light it on, last night my speedometer and odometer stopped working. Could either one of these be affected by the abs light being on? (I know what's wrong with my ABS so please refrain from giving me possible reasons the light is on)

I used to be ASE certified in ABS systems back in the late 90's and at that time, there was no connection between the two in the way that you're talking about. I can't say if maybe it is possible in later years. What's wrong with the ABS system? Is it maybe one of the sensors?

Possibly, but not likely. ABS problems frequently affect traction control systems. This often causes non-ABS codes to be thrown also. Fix what you know is wrong and see if the speedometer and odometer start working again. I've seen where failed Variable Speed Sensors, which drive the speedometer, also trigger ABS codes (among others).

How long has the ABS Light been on before the cluster failed?
I recommend you have the ABS DTC's checked and find a shop capable of performing a gauge sweep test on the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
This model year was prone to IPC failures... each failure showed different symptoms, some like you've described.
