    Floor mount, wall discharge toilet
We just bought a house that needs a toilet replaced, but can't afford the floor mount wall discharge toilet, can we convert the existing plumbing for a regular toilet?

If you shop around you can find wall discharge toilets at a good price Duravit D-Code Wallmount Toilet Bowl Only White The cost of rerouting the drain and vent to convert to a traditional toilet may not be cost effective. What exactly is wrong with the current toilet, may be cheapest to rebuild that one.

In a word,NO! The expense of converting to a floor discharge would involve tearing into the wall and floor to convert the plumbing would far exceed the $157.99 a new rear discharge would run. Follow Bob's link (Duravit D-Code Wallmount Toilet Bowl Only White) and see. Good luck, Tom

You can get Duravit wall mount toilet for about $245.00 + seat. That's just about a price you'll pay for average toilet in Home Depot. This is the ONLY low priced model. All other models run over $700 and up. See the link / I think it is the same link as Tom's. Seat for this toilet is dedicated and no other seat will fit. The seat will set you back about $99.00 for white unit. Back to you. Milo

Edit: Tom's link has even less expensive toilet and seat than my link.

What we were thinking was to build a platform and run the plumbing under it??

( don't understand your reasoning. You would rather tear up your wall and configure your plumbing to accept a platform mounted toilet costing big bucks rather then spend less then $250 and do the job with the correct fixture. If I've missed something here please enlighten me. Regards, Tom

That's not the right toilet. The one we need ranges from $450 on up. It sits on the floor, and the discharge pipe is on the wall at floor level. It had a tank and everything... we are lost!!

I think I managed to upload the photo, and this one has been discontinued!

    HI Samantha...

Yeah, these toilets are kind of expensive.

American standard makes the yorkville floor mount, rear discharge toilet for about $435.00 plus tax, but no shipping cost @

Amazon.com: American Standard 2876.016.020 Yorkville Pressure-Assisted Elongated Toilet, White: Home Improvement

I believe this is a 1.28 GPF toilet and you may be able to get a rebate in your town/city so check with them on low flush tax rebates, too, OK?

    Good luck!

Buying a floor mount, wall outlet toilet even at $450 is still cheaper then roughing in a floor outlet toilet. Besides the cost of the rough in, and wall and floor repairs, you still have to buy a new toilet for the floor outlet. At $450 this is still the easier and cheapest solution. Shop around online, you may be able to find a cheaper wall outlet toilet.

Hi Samantha, This may be of further help. Crane 3932N @ $358.00 and Gerber 21-325 @ $380.00
