Talking to God

I have just read in the newspapers that the congress’s member Michele M. Bachmann was explaining to Bob Schieffer the other day that God talks to her ALL the time…
However, while God seems to be giving her clear cut instructions as to how she has to go about her aspirations to the White House, it also seems God conveniently forgets to remind her about His 11th commandment: the Law of God’s Love (John 13:34-35).
How can we justify this serious oblivion when the very Jesus said “By this command everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”

Of course God may just have a sense of humor and saying "look she is really doing that "

But I guess how is she not loving her fellow man ?

She is crazy, of this there is no doubt.

In fact my concern is not this lady. She can claim what she deems convenient. My concern goes to people who are gullible enough as to believe her..

Well if she really talks to God, look what happened to that nutcase Bush II - HE got elected president with a lot of help from his Dad (God) so I guess she's letting the cat out of the bag that she has Daddy Bush behind her.

We've already elected more nutcases in this country to be president. Why not another one? Why change the routine now?

Is God the one who said she can bring gas back to $2.00 a gallon

The point is, I guess, whether by electing those nutcases you mention you and your wonderful country have improved or actually have gone backwards?

I am afraid it is rather the 2nd option, in which case maybe if should be worth your changing the routine...

It seems it was the French Alexis de Tocqueville who once said In a Democracy, the people get the government they deserve

Take the case of Spain, for instance. 7 years ago we made the mistake of electing as prime minister one of the most stolid, impossible and uselss nutcases in the world, the socialist Zapatero (shoemaker), who has managed to practically ruin the country. Our own damn fault!

Next November we stand a possibility to change him by someone else we do not know well but whom we are sure cannot be any worse and, who is not a socialist but a liberal.

So we all hope he will win by a smashing majority. We will see!

I'm not a Christian, so I don't believe God talks to ANYBODY... But, from what I know of Christianity, in order to get into heaven there's something about an eye of a needle.. You guys would know more about that than I. Plus, I also believe Christians to be a charitable sort of people...

So, when SHE says that God told her to cut taxes for the richest of the rich amongst us, but tells her to STOP unemployment payments to people who are out of work, she's either LYING, or that's a God that I'm GLAD I don't know.

Relax! You can be sure that neither our Christian God nor any other deity whatsoever has contacted this lady.

Unfortunately, there are millions all over the world (in my country too)
that enjoy watching what I call either "junk" or "garbage" TV. Although this should not be a consolation but rather a dramatic change in values all over the place...

No, not really; I'm afraid you are wrong! I would be very happy is you would believe MY version of Christianity. You are as entitled to your own beliefs as I am to mine, and even the lady in question if to hers...
In my case I have no merit. I belong to the immense mass of people that have shared, share and will share SOME religious "stuff" as you put it.
If it is true that between atheist and agnostics there are now about 18% of the world population I am included in the 82% whereas you should belong into the smaller group.
But it does not really matter, because as I have mentioned in another thread we will not know for sure who is right and who is wrong until we take the one way train to who knows where..
So I wish you as much happiness with your ideas while over here as I am enjoying with mine.
One of us will surely be wrong! If it is me, I have been wasting some valuable time down here... If it is you... perhaps you have been running some risks...
