    Help Fixing a Faux Chimney
I have a phoney chimney (the chimney used for the boiler) that has phoney brick that is way beyond its lifespan. It is probably 40 years old, some type of fiberboard material. It is staining my shingles too. The chimney is 24 wide by 43 tall, with a stainless steel cap. Are there kits out there for this or will I be relegated to the expenside veneer stone. I have been looking around for a year, but I really need to get this done now. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

It depends on where you live and how much money you want to spend. The best repair would be to strip it down to the framing and cover with durorocl or cement board followed by faux stone or brick. There are many cement board siding materials that you could use to box this in but then it won't look like brick if that's importatnt to you.

It is in the back of the house. It doesn't show from the street and living in Westchester, NY, I have asked a couple of guys who want a lot of money for a small chimney. Where would I look for cement board siding? I really just want to put 4 new sides on it, cap it and call it a day.
