Hi. My name is Rebecca. And I have a question. I have an I.U.D, that I have had for 7 months now. My cycles are regular, every 28 days and they last 5 days. Very heavy flow. I am never late. I had sex on th 5th of Aug. My period was due on the 10th of Aug. It didn't show. On the 13th of Aug I started to have cramps and hotflashes... I have never gotten a hotflash in my entire life. So this was werid for me... Around 5:00pm Aug 13th I started to spot, and I thought for sure it was my period... BUT NOPE. I spotted on 13th, 14th, 15th and now today the 16th.. But it's not like my regular periods... Its very light and in those 4 days I haven't even filled a pad up... It is bright pink and has no smell? Hrm. What do you think this could be.

Have you taken a HPT using first morning urine yet? If not, that should be your first step.

Well, I did call my obgyn. She has me scheduled for Sep 14th. But that is a long way off. So. If I did take an HPT, do you think it would show, considering it's only been 11 days? I'm just trying to figure this out, because if I am, I would like to have the I.U.D taken out, before it has the chance to cause any problems...

Since your period is already late it should be okay to test now. Remember that it's important to test with first morning urine.

Also, keep in mind that depending on the type of IUD that you have (hormonal or copper), your periods may become irregular or stop altogether.
