I would like to wire a new circuit from the power source to a switch controlling a light and then outlets at the end of same circuit. The outlets would be hot all the time. Power to the switch is 14/3 because I would like the light on the red circuit and the outlets on the black circuit. Where can I find a diagram or can any one tell me how to wire this setup?

Did you want to control the light separate from the outlet or turn everything on/off all at once?

Several ways to do this.

Run 14-3 to switch box with 14-2 to the outlet and 14-2 to the light fixture. That puts a lot of wires in the switch box.

Or

Run 14-3 to the outlet, run 14-2 to the next outlet and 14-2 to the switch and 14-2 from the switch to the light fixture. That puts a lot of wires in the outlet box.

Or

Run 14-3 to the outlet, run 14-2 to the next outlet, run 14-2 to the light and 14-2 from the light fixture to the switch. That still puts a lot of wires in the outlet box.

Or

Run 14-3 to the ceiling light fixture, run 14-2 from the ceiling to the outlet and 14-2 from the ceiling to the switch. That puts all your wiring connections in the ceiling box. The ceiling box is a lot bigger.

It all depends on which way is easiest and uses the least wire.

Tell me how you want to do it and I will draw you a diagram.

Why do you want to have two circuits? Is there a real reason or is it just to "have it your way".

Can you give me the diagram for this:

The way Harold shows is the most efficient use of wires. You will need a 14/3 to the ceiling outlet and a 14/2 from the ceiling to the wall outlet. Switch controls light, outlet is hot.

Why not just tell us what you want to do. Several options were given in the original post. The most efficient use of wire would depend on where the power is coming from.

I want to take a feed and run it to a switch then to a light fixture then to an outlet- just as described above. In fact the diagram is "spot on" for my room.
