I have deep well that only produces 1.5 GPM. It pumps the water up hill into a holding tank and then the water runs back down hill into the house. The problem is that the pressure tank is not holding pressure. It is pressurized to 60 lbs and slowly goes down to 30 and holds there so water can't get up the hill into the tank. We had the relay replaced and have had the well guy out repeatedly but still cannot get this resolved. Can anyone help with this? I am not sure if I need a new pump, if the well is going dry or if I have a leak in the line somewhere. Any ideas?

Are you saying that the pump pumps into a pressure tank, which then sends water to a holding tank and then "downhill" to your house? Not clear on this one.

When you say "pressure tank" are you referring to a bladder or a galvanized pressure tank? (see images).
I agree with jlisenbe. We could use more details. For example, Why is the pump pumping to a uphill holding tank and not directly into your house?
Since it's gravity fed what's the house pressure?
We don't have too many setups here in the states but I've answered questions of this nature from Great Bitten . Would be located there? Of course you have a leak that loses pressure. The problem is which side of the pump it's on. Try this.
You should have a valve on the line going to the holding tank.
Shut it off and let the pump get up to thcut off point and watch the pressure gage. If the pressure bleeds off then I would be giving a hard look at the check/foot valve. Holding pressure? IIf so then close off the valve at the holding tank\ and open up the valve at the pump. If the pressure falls the leak is in the line that feeds the tan. Let me know what you find and we'll go from there. Good luck Tom
