Sick for 17 days with upset stomach, diarrhea, burping, weight loss
I've been sick for 17 days. I'm a white male, 43 years old very sick stomach, diarrhea, burping, loss of weight. I weighed 228 17 days ago, now I weigh 212. Can't eat, I feel bloated all the time, and when I do eat, I get sick. Haven't vomited, and want to sleep all the time. Please - I need help.

When you burp does it bring up a foul sulfur-like smell?

How bad is the diarrhea? Is any food intact in it, undigested?
The LEAST thing you might have is a simple common intestinal virus, and the best thing is to take an OTC anti diarrhea medicine, stop eating after that, and drink clear liquids for 3 days before eating again. That is the amount of time to starve out the virus. NO FOOD but plenty of clear liquids. Chicken broth and apple juice and lots of water.

Of course you could have something more serious, from parasites to ulcers to tumors to all sorts of things, and you would go to a doctor.

You will find many reasons for your symptoms when doing searches on the internet. It could be an infection or parasitic element, or a host of other issues. I have had to do a lot research on similar symptoms for a family member.

In her case, symptoms were alleviated by taking a few tablespoons a day of non-sugar, plain yogurt. It tastes tart, to be sure, but after the first two tablespoons, she actually felt instant relief. The yogurt introduces good bacteria into your digestive system. Taken daily, she hasn't had a problem since.

This may or may not help you, and, it is inexpensive and without side effects, but at this point, I would suggest a visit to a clinic or doctor.

Hmmm... Go see a doctor before it becomes worse and you die?

You don't say if you used an anti-diarrheal. You don't say how many days you tried the clear liquid diet. You don't say how bad the diarrhea is or if food is digested. You don't say what country you are in (dysentery in some parts of the world!) and we can't help if you lack detail.

We are limited anyway. A DOCTOR will EXAMINE you and get more information out of you, since you aren't here! Bring a stool sample when you go.

I had C-Difficile, or C-Diff. the symptoms sound similar to something I had after a course of antibiotics. It's possible to die from this because some strains of this bacteria secrete a toxin that will kill you in the right concentration. The treatment for me was a different, inexpensive antibiotic that killed the bacteria. I followed this up with a probiotic to replenish my gut.

Se a doctor on Monday (the 15th). Don't wait on this.
